Emotional Support Animal (ESA)
Assessment & Verification Letter
Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) can provide comfort and emotional relief, especially for those dealing with anxiety, depression, or other emotional challenges. Under the Fair Housing Act (FHA), individuals with a qualifying disability may be entitled to have an ESA accompany them in housing, even if there are no-pet policies in place.
Assessments
I offer professional assessments to determine if an ESA is appropriate for you, and if so, I will provide the necessary documentation and letter to support your request.
This service helps you secure the emotional support you need for a healthier and more balanced life, ensuring that your ESA is legally recognized and you can exercise your rights. Please note that while ESAs are not permitted in all public spaces, they are specifically protected in housing environments.
What to Expect
Prior to your ESA (Emotional Support Animal) Assessment, you will receive an email granting access to the Client Portal. Through the portal, you will electronically receive intake forms and practice documents. These forms will gather essential information about you and your background, helping me gain a better understanding of your needs. All documents such as Practice Policies, Notice of Privacy Practices, and Informed Consent for Psychotherapy must be reviewed and signed prior to our session. Following our first session, a Good Faith Estimate will also be provided.
Please Note
All therapy sessions are virtual by phone or video.
Positive Mind Counseling does not prescribe medication. We can recommend prescribers and local psychiatrists and are happy to work collaboratively with whomever you see for that purpose.
Prospective clients must be New Jersey residents, currently located in New Jersey, or able to join their session from New Jersey to receive services due to state legislation and board regulations.
